Chicken Pox vaccine day

An overall nice day with you baby, even with a raging at headache in the afternoon and still feeling so congested. I hope you feel the same way even though you are also ill again! Yesterday, daddy and I suspected you may be teething or have caught something. Well I got the evidence for the latter this morning – yellow/ greenish snot from the first of many sneezes! Poor dude. Here we go again.

This symptom of yet another cold sent me into overthinking mode for hours because once again I wasn’t sure if we should go ahead today with the Chicken Pox vaccine! It has been delayed and delayed mostly due to you being unwell. I was so hoping you would be well today to take you. Hours of conflicting thoughts later, you got the jab! Yep, mummy took you on the basis that you did not have a temperature and was mostly your funny chirpy self. Plus I really don’t know when you won’t be ill again (as you are catching things left right and centre) and I don’t know how I would forgive myself if I leave it any longer and you actually end up catching Chicken Pox and suffer badly from it due to your eczema. In the UK, Chicken Pox vaccine is not routine but I learnt how babies with eczema can react severly to Chicken Pox and so daddy and I decided you should get it done!

You totally took it like a boss. Honestly you were more annoyed that I was holding you tight in position for the jab than the actual jab itself. You just wanted to wiggle out!

And…

  • Maybe because you were a bit unwell. You needed me to be in the room to accompany you to watch TV. At one point you needed me to physically be with you. I wasn’t allowed to move towards the door or you would cry! When I tried to move closer to the door, you would turn to cry/ shout at me each time but at the same time you were so scared to miss the song on Youtube, you would turn your head back towards the TV. Only to then turn back towards me when I move to check on me. This repeated many a time. Basically you couldn’t decide if you wanted me or the TV more!
  • We think you are closed to mastering climbing down the stairs 🙂 You know to turn to the side to get your legs down first. It was funny to see how you turn your body when you were still so far away from the edge of the first step that your leg didn’t even get to the edge haha
  • It was amazing to see that you have picked up the ‘little caterpillar’ Cantonese phrase about taping the tips of your index fingers together and moving them away from each other. I am pretty sure I only showed you this a few time about 2 days ago and you were basically doing it on demand today and I even caught it on camera. Smart little boy!
  • You had one whole Heinz biscotti and a soft apple biscotti today. Highest amount of diary in a long long time. You do currently have small amount of eczema on your face and we don’t know if it is the dairy or the tomato (baked beans we gave you the other day) or teething or being ill. However daddy and I are going to keep this up because we really really want you to be able to get up the milk ladder and enjoy food with dairy!
